Keeping in line with "I'm comfortable sharing just about everything," my husband and I were cleared by my doctor to ttc on Wednesday. And an hour later AF showed up!
Good timing, right??
I admit I was hoping AF would hold off for another day or two. By arriving early it means this last cycle had an 11 day luteal phase, which is borderline LP defect. I'm assuming the shortness was due to a weak ovulation due to my son's stillbirth, but I'm still just a little worried. My usual is 13-14 days on an unmedicated cycle.
My ob/gyn is not a reproductive specialist, but she's seen all my records and knows that we're going to give this extremum fato: Our Last Chance.
I am working under the assumption that getting pregnant in the first place will likely take over a year. That has been the pattern for over a decade now, so why should that change?
However, I've learned a few things about vitamins and minerals in the body as well as the impact candida can have on my immune system so I am hoping that I can use the changes in my supplements and my diet to increase my chances.
I'm not getting any younger and even if I succeeded in getting pregnant this month, I'd be considered Advanced Maternal Age because I'd be 35 by the time of delivery.
AMA. Oh Joy. Another acronym!
As of today, I am taking a lot of pills for the next three weeks.
Here is the daily run down for the next 10 days:
Life Long Vitality pack 6 pills
Maca Root 3 pills/800mg each
Folic Acid 1 pill/400mg
USANA Prenatal 4 pills
GX Assist 3 pills
Terrazyme 3 pills
Zendocrine Complex 2 pills
Evening Primrose Oil 2 pills
Selenium 1 pill/200mcg
Vitamin D3 1 pill
Potassium/Magnesium 2 pills
That's 28 pills. I also take 2 drops of iodine and 0.3mL of sublingual Vitamin B Complex.
Overkill? Maybe! But in all honesty I feel better and have more energy than I can remember having in my entire life. I'm getting about 6 hours of sleep a night and maintaining good energy through the day.
For the next 5 days I have 2 additional pills to take: Clomiphene Citrate. Aka CLOMID.
30 pills, spread out over a single day, for 5 days.
I've done 9 rounds of clomid in the past and only succeeded in getting a positive beta on the first round, so my chances are still slim.
When I think of my clomid success rate, I'm reminded of that first clomid pregnancy. I miss my little girl. Her first due date-versary passed the week I gave birth to her brother.
Will I be successful with clomid this month? Probably not, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to try.
